Robyn keeps her eye on the target

Springs resident Robyn Barrows (19) is the South African National Junior Indoor Compound Bow Archery champion.

Archery has always come natural to her and receiving the gold medal and trophy at the 10th World Archery Indoors event, held at the University of Pretoria recently, is another highlight on her list of achievements.

She was nervous yet excited to compete.

“It is nerve wracking, but you never know who is going to outperform you on that day so you give it your all, until the last arrow hits the target,” says Robyn.

During the recent Johannesburg Indoor Crossbow League competition she received a trophy for the Best Women and Best Junior Archer.

The indoor league consists of shooting twice a month and archers hand in their scores to rank themselves and to improve on their personal best scores throughout the year.

“I also received North Gauteng Provincial colours and am currently working very hard for my South African National Colours,” she says.

She is passionate about archery sport and is grateful to her father, Willie Barrows, who introduced her to the sport.
