Nigel Road claims two more lives
The driver and passenger of a silver Audi 3.0T were killed instantly when their vehicle hit a tree in Nigel Road, Selection Park on Wednesday.
According to eyewitnesses the driver was allegedly speeding when he overtook several vehicles, before losing control of the vehicle.
EMPD officials Louis Els and Louwtjie du Toit received the call at 3.30pm and claim the vehicle was travelling from the Springs CBD towards Selection Park.
Els says when they arrived they found the vehicle ‘folded’ around a tree and both driver and passenger unresponsive.
When the Parkland Hospital paramedic arrived on the scene, he declared the driver and passenger dead.
The Ekurhuleni’s Distaster and Emergency Services department used the jaws of life to get the two bodies out of the vehicle.
Els claims the engine of the vehicle was completely ripped from the vehicle due to the impact.
The road was still blocked off at 5pm, forcing traffic to take a detour to the CBD.
