Sewage woes plague business

Business owners in Selection Park have had enough of the lack of service delivery from the Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Municipality.

Kobie Human (59), who works at one of the companies in Boniface Road, says they have reported a massive sewage leak every day for more than four weeks.

“The smell is unbearable,” she says.

She explains they even sent photos of the sewage to the municipality to show them the extent of the problem.

“They have come out to look at the problem, but it is still not fixed, we can’t even get our food down at lunch time due to the horrid stench,” she says.

“We asked them what’s going on, but they just keep telling us they don’t know what the problem is or what to do.”

She adds they even had to find an alternative place to park their cars because the sewage has flooded a section of their parking area.

Willem Valoye, a security guard on the premises who works night shift, says the smell is worse at night.

The Addie is awaiting comment from the metro.
