Shooting in Bakerton may be linked to deadly attack in Gugulethu

A 23-year-old man was shot in the leg in Bakerton on Tuesday.

The victim and his friend entered a shop when two men approached them, allegedly wanting to speak to the victim.

Springs police spokesman Capt Johannes Ramphora says one of the men pulled out a gun and shot the victim in the left leg.

Witnesses at the scene say the men fled the scene on foot and ran towards the Gugulethu informal settlement.

The victim claims he knows the men and believes they are the same men who opened fire on three people in Gugulethu on Monday.

“This shooting incident can possibly be linked to shooting incident in Gugulethu where two people were killed and one man was shot in his left leg,” he adds.
