‘Illegal’ truck stop will be investigated

An alleged illegal truck stop in Selection Park, opposite the Selcourt Towers shopping centre, is being monitored by the EMPD.

Following an article published by the Addie, ‘Residents fear possibility of truck stop‘, Wilfred Kgasago, spokesman for the EMPD, says they will monitor the place regularly to establish the frequency of its usage.

“The location that is allegedly being used as a truck stop will be fully investigated,” he says.

The place will be closely monitored to establish the frequency of its usage and the number of trucks stopping there, as well as the times.

“From the surface, the trucks may not use the location as a truck stop,” says Kgasago.

“We all know that truck stops come with a lot of problems such as noise pollution to residents and the absence of ablution facilities invariably leads to health hazards and other undesirable things.”

He concludes by saying that the outcome of the investigations, as well as the results of whatever interventions employed to resolve the problem, will be communicated.
