More sewage woes

A Bakerton resident claims he reported a sewage leak running into the Blesbokspruit, in Pin Tail Close, months ago.

Zahoor Mohamed says the leaking manhole has been overflowing for months.

The manhole is bordered by Bakerton homes on one side and the Blesbokspruit on the other.

Mohamed says he has reported the leak numerous times but the Ekurhuleni Metro has ignored his request to fix the problem.

As a last resort, he contacted ward councillor Ramesh Sheodin, who has also reported the leaking manhole.

Mohamed says he can only imagine what effect the pollution must be having on the stream.

He says when the wind blows, the stench becomes unbearable, not only to him and his family, but to all the residents.

This is not the only problem Mohamed experiences.

He has also reported a water leak in the driveway of his property several times, which has also not been attended to.

He claims a lot of clean water is going to waste.

At the time of going to the press, the Addie had received no comment from the metro.
