Buses burn in Pam Brink Stadium
A fire at the Pam Brink Stadium in Geduld caused a buzz among residents on Tuesday.
Smoke rose from the centre of the stadium and fire trucks were on the scene.
Gert Parsons from Afriforum was at the scene and says various vehicles, including buses, were completely destroyed.
The vehicles were parked on the rugby field at the stadium.
“These are so-called redundant vehicles owned by the council and they have stood here for some time,” he says.
He says the grass on the field was long and alleges the blaze spread from a veld fire.
“When I arrived at the scene, there were fire trucks and some of the buses were already completely burned,” says Parsons.
He feels the fire was a result of negligence and that someone should be held accountable.
The Addie has contacted the Ekurhuleni Emergency Services and is awaiting their response.
