Stealers feel much more positive

The Springs Stealers faced the South Stars on Sunday, July 19, at the Boksburg Stadium.

In the first frame, the Stars scored two runs and the Stealers were unable to retaliate as they got three outs in a row.

The second frame started better with Kenneth Fisher finding his zone from the pitching mound.

Stars lost three batsman without scoring in the second frame.

The next few Stealers batsman managed to get bat to ball with good hits from Julius van Biljon and Juan du Plessis. Du Plessis and Van Biljon managed to get two runs of their own before getting three outs.

Small fielding errors allowed the Stars to gain another three runs before the Stealers could get three more outs.

Good catches were made in the outfield by Blessing Mogudi and newcomer Marko Greyvenstein.

Stealers managed one run to take their telly to three before being dismissed.

In the fourth frame, the Stars managed another three runs to lead 8 – 3.

Stealers replied with two runs before pitching duties changed for both teams.

Francois McGregor, team captain, managed to get three outs with two strike outs and a catch to keep the Stars from scoring in the fifth frame as the new Stars pitcher proved to be quite a challenge for the batters.

In the next three frames, the Stars managed to reach a final score of 13 and left the Stealers trailing with five.

Francois said Stars is one of the top teams in the league and that they were happy not to get mercy ruled.

ā€œThe guys showed great improvement and the general attitude among the players is much more positive,ā€ he said.

Francois added that they would like to thank a local company for sponsoring their new uniforms and said they would welcome any players who would like to join their team.
