Potholes take over the streets

Blom Street in Oranjehof is lined with massive potholes from beginning to end.

Pieter Scheepers, who lives along this pockmarked road, says the situation is beyond ridiculous.

With one of these giant craters situated in front of his driveway, Scheepers says his car has been seriously damaged in the past.

“I have reported this to the Ekurhuleni Metro multiple times, the last time being three months ago, but all I get is a reference number and no service,” says a disgruntled Scheepers.

These potholes have plagued the street for many months and are getting larger and more dangerous with each passing day.

Another hazard in the road are two large cement blocks, which have been used to cover an open manhole in the middle of the road.

The manhole was open for a long time and posed a threat to children in the area

The large cement blocks pose an even greater risk to motorists, who not only have to dodge large potholes, but also the cement to avoid damaging their cars.

The Addie is awaiting comment from the metro.
