Duck pond needs a new pump

The borehole pump at the George Sutter Park duck pond is currently out of order.

According to Anita Greeff, general manager of the Eastern Gauteng Chamber of Commerce, the pump burned out two weeks ago.

It is believed the cut-off switch on the control panel wasn’t working properly.

Greeff says the pump is of no use.

The Selpark Dam Project committee held a meeting on Monday (May 18) to discuss the pump issue.

According to Greeff, the committee has received quotations and it will cost R6 000 to replace the pump.

“Funds needs to be raised to enable them to buy another pump,” she adds.

Although the water in the pond is reaching low levels, committee members believe a solution will be found soon.

As far as the ducks and geese are concerned, Greeff claims they will be relocated to the duck pond when the new pump is installed.
