According to information received from police, three men entered a house in Lilac Road, Welgedacht Agricultural Holdings at 4.20am.
One armed man pointed a gun at the home owner and his wife.
Springs police spokesman Capt Johannes Ramphora says the the couple’s neighbour heard screaming and went to investigate.
He saw one of the robbers and tried to stop him, but the robber pulled out a knife and stabbed him in the right hand.
The man was not seriously injured.
Ramphora says the robbers fled with two cellphones and a tablet.
No shots were fired and a case of house robbery has been opened.
