Security guards robbed of pistols

Four security guards were tied up at a business in Carnation Road, Welgedacht Agricultural Holdings, on Friday.

Two of the guards were robbed of their 9mm service pistols.

The guards were on duty at 11.50pm when five men entered the guard room on the premises.

Two of the men were armed with guns, while the others were armed with knives.

Springs police spokesman Amanda Greybe says the two guards in the room were ordered to lie down, and were tied up with shoelaces.

A sixth man then entered the room with another two guards.

These guards were also tied up.

Greybe says two 9mm pistols were stolen, along with 10 rounds of live ammunition, and two cellphones.

A case of robbery with a firearm was opened at the Springs police station.
