Resident fed up with illegal dumping

Peter Pitsiladis is disgusted with the community's lack of responsibility.

This comes after the Springs resident noticed people dumping rubbish and other waste on a vacant property on the corner of Sixth Avenue and Ninth Street, in the CBD.

The corner property has been empty for years and is overgrown with grass.

“We all put our black bags out on refuse removal days, a service provided by the municipality,” he says, wondering why people would dump their rubbish on the property.

The Ekurhuleni Metro has not removed any of the waste, and the rubbish is strewn all over the property.

Pitsiladis wants to know who is responsible for cleaning up the mess.

He claims informal recyclers will soon be drawn to the property in search for recyclable material.

The metro was informed of the illegal dumping site, but no response from council was received at the time of going to print.
