Leaking fire hydrant finally fixed

After the Addie reported the leak, the metro sent out workers to investigate.

Almost six months after a leaking fire hydrant in Wit Road, Lodeyko, was first reported, contractors from the Ekurhuleni Metro were seen fixing it on Wednesday (April 22).

Leonie Biselli, a senior citizen from Molendam, reported the leak to the metro several times after walking past it on a daily basis.

With no action from council, she finally turned to the Addie for assistance.

After the Addie reported the leak, the metro sent out workers to investigate.

Contractor Sanele Sithole says several rusted nuts and bolts had to be replaced.

He claims this was the cause of the leak, and the fire hydrant has since been repaired.
