Another SAPS success

Drugs and counterfeit goods were seized during a police operation in Springs, on Friday.(April 16).

The operation was conducted by members of the EMPD K9 Dog Unit and Springs SAPS Crime Prevention Unit .

At 1.45pm, a blue Toyota Conquest parked in Union Street, Oranjehof, was searched.

Dogs from the K9 Unit detected drugs in the vehicle, and police found the driver of the car in possession of rocks (crack cocaine).

Amanda Greybe, spokesman for Springs police, says more drugs were found hidden in a sock under the passenger seat.

The drugs have a street value of R6 000, and the two occupants of the car, men aged 26 and 29, were arrested.

The SAPS Crime Prevention Unit also searched a house in this street, and found three packets of dagga.

A 35-year-old woman was arrested at the address.

In Blom Street, a 30-year-old man was arrested after 147 grams of dagga was found in his possession.

Greybe says police also closed two illegal shebeens along this street and confiscated counterfeit DVDs, a knife and liquor.

Greybe lauded the operation as a success.
