Residents deal with large potholes and speeding motorists

Potholes are on the increase in Springs and the streets of Petersfield are no exception.

Toni van der Schyff , a resident of Petersfield says the holes are getting really bad.

“Residents fill the holes with stones and sand, but this is just a temporary fix as we have reported this multiple times to the metro,” she says.

Van der Schyff adds that this can be very dangerous to drivers and can cause serious damage to vehicles.

The residents of the area say they also want the metro to put a speed hump in the road due to speeding cars.

“The way the cars race down that road is disgusting and my concern is that it is the road passing by a créche,” she says.

“My greatest fear is that one of the children gets knocked down by these speeding cars.”

She adds that the cars do not stop at the stop streets and that she was also in danger of being hit by one of these motorists on previous occasions.

The Addie has sent enquiries to the metro and is waiting their response.
