Accident slows down traffic
The exact details surrounding the cause of the head-on collision and the preceding events are investigated by the police.
An accident around 7am on Friday morning, where five people were injured, slowed down the morning traffic in Welgedacht Road.
The collision took place on the R555 near Pansy Road in Welgedacht.
Santi Steinmann, spokesman of Netcare 911 says the exact details surrounding the cause of the head-on collision and the preceding events will be investigated by the police.
She says the Netcare 911 paramedics and other ambulance services who arrived on the scene found that a woman (43) from one of the cars sustained critical injuries during the collision.
The Netcare 911 helicopter airlifted her for further medical care.
The second vehicle was carrying four people who sustained injuries ranging from moderate to serious.
All these injured patients were also treated on the scene and transported to various hospitals for further medical care.
