Springs athlete shines at SA Triathlon Champs
The South African Triathlon Championships were held last Sunday in East London.
Brad Edwards, a young Springs athlete, achieved excellent results in his category at the triathlon.
Brad competed in the SA Triathlon which includes a race for all age group riders from all the provinces and Zimbabwe.
A 1.5km sea swim was the first test and Brad came out of the water in the top three and started the ride slightly ahead in first position in the 40km non-drafting time trial.
He managed to get a two minute lead on the field, going into the 10km run.
He won the overall race and also his age category which is 20-24 years.
His very proud father, Derek Edwards, says it is a great result considering he had a bout of flu for two weeks prior to the event.
