Art exhibition on Human Rights Day

This is a celebration of young artists' works.

The Springs Art Gallery will be abuzz of youthful art when an exhibition of the students from the Ekurhuleni art development schools is opened on March 21.

Thabo Sekoalia, curator of visual arts at the Springs Art Gallery explains Ekurhuleni has several art development schools where children from nine years and the youth up to 35 years old are trained in basic art skills.

The art development school in Springs is held each Saturday at the hall next to the art gallery.

Thabo says the exhibition, opening on March 21 at the gallery, will consist of over 100 works made by these students.

This is not only to showcase the students’ works to the community, but also to expose them to a professional art gallery.

Before the official opening there will be a workshop for the young artists with the emphasis on human rights, which is commemorated as a national holiday on March 21 in our country.

The opening of the exhibition will have an interesting programme of song and dance to celebrate art, also enhancing the theme of human rights.
