It is really upsetting that a motorist needs to look where they are going ‘Less burst tyres’ dated February 17 on www.springsadvertiser.co.za.

What happened to dangerous hazards as the roads and pavements in Springs are not safe anymore.

According to the metro you need three quotations for the damages done to the vehicles but nowhere does it say you have to do that before you can claim your money back.

Only now after this incident the metro tells people what to do

This is an incident that happened during the week so surely people are working and need their vehicles to go to work and back.

When and how should you take leave from work to go and get three quotations for manholes which is standing open for weeks and months and another extra money from your pocket to either take a day’s leave or unpaid leave to claim your money back.

Another question, why should this go through your insurance for negligence of the metro for not having our roads and pavements checked on a regular basis.

People don’t have time to run around for different quotes and take off from work and by the way, how long will it take then for this money to be paid back anyway, maybe a couple of months or years perhaps.

I think the metro is pathetic for not fixing these dangerous areas and for waiting weeks before anything is done and people’s cars have to be damaged before anything gets done.

These open manholes are an extreme hazard to everybody.
