The duck pond fence is almost up

It should be completed next week.

The fence around the newly renovated George Sutter Park duck pond is almost completed.

When the Addie visited the duck pond last Thursday, the contractors said they started erecting the silver ClearVu fence last Friday.

They are waiting for more material to be delivered, but hope to be finished by next week.

Metro parks department manager Lindiwe Makubalo says she is happy with the progress of the fence.

“The silver compliments the water and the geese at the pond will be safe and happy,” she says.

Chairman of the Selpark Dam Project Wollaston Labuschagne says two service entry gates will also be put up.

One will be placed at the pump house and the other one where the old pump house was for maintenance purposes.

He says he is proud of the metro’s involvement in the project – donating the fence.

“These initiatives can be done successfully between the community, the metro and businesses as long as there are good operation from all the parties involved,” he says.

While the Addie were talking to the contractors, the geese all gathered to have a closer look at the visitors.
