Chamber President’s Merit awards

The 16th annual Eastern Gauteng Chamber of Commerce and Industry’s (EGCCI) Presiden'ts Merit Award banquet was held at Carnival City on last week.

The purpose of the event is to reward companies and individuals who have made a meaningful contribution towards skills development, job creation and have a social impact in the area.

The awards also give recognition to individuals who excel in sport, bravery and social work.

Gavin Roberts, the EGCCI president handed over the Skills, Social development and Environment award to Sappi Paper & Paper Packaging: Enstra.

The award for Job Creation and Social Development was given to Diesel Electric Industrial (Pty) Ltd.

Afrisun East Rand Trust received an award for Skills and Social Development.

Impala Platinum Refineries received an award for Job Creation, Skills and Social Development and Environment.

The Job Creation award was given to Dieter Schmidft of Liebherr-Africa (Pty) Ltd.

John Crane Southern Africa received the Social Development award.

Mpact received the Social Development award.

PFG Building Glass (Pty) Ltd received the award for Job Creation, Skills and Social Development, Environment and Recognition by Peers for Excellence.

The Job Creation, Skills and Social Development, Environment and Recognition by Peers for Excellence award was given to UM Jwali market research (Pty) Ltd.

A special award was given to John Molupe for Outstanding Sports Achievement.

He says he is grateful yet humble by the recognition.

“I feel like a real champion with this award.”

The lucky draw prize winner was Johnny Sequeira who won two economy class tickets to any destination of his choice within South Africa, courtesy of SA Reynolds Travel as well as a two nights midweek or weekend break and a two days car hire.
The two best Gatsby dressed couples, Johan and Rika Swart and Dondvin and Amelia Gamesa, each received a prize sponsored by Carnival City.
