Boy (15) hit by motorcycle
A group of five school learners from Springs Technical High School (HTS) crossed Ermelo Road at around noon today with disastrous consequences.
A rider of a motorcycle went through a green light at the robot and collided with one of the learners.
According to an eye witness, Gail van Niekerk, the children were already crossing when the rider of the motorcycle went through the robot, seemingly a bit fast.
Van Niekerk says the man slowed down and hooted at the children, but they continued walking and one of the boys was hit.
“He (the victim) flipped about two times in the air before he fell to the ground,” she says.
The rider of the motorcycle had a few injuries and was a little confused, but was not seriously injured .
The victim’s friends watched in shock as their friend was tended to by paramedics and moved to the ambulance.
“We tried to tell him to go back,” says one of the victim’s friends, “but it was too late.”
