Family enjoys a Sunday cycling trip

Gene van Heerden is a serious cyclist who recently joined the Springs Wheelers Cycling Club, while staying in the enclosed area while his house in Benoni is being renovated.
Tatum van Heerden (9) and her brother Jethro (8) say they love cycling with their father.
Gene says the children have been nagging him to cycle with them and he tries to spend as much time with them as possible.
The family believes in a healthy lifestyle and Gene feels children should inherit good habits from their parents.
He says children are watching their parents and what they do, therefore it is necessary to set a good example.
Tatum says she most definitely loves the casual cycling time they spend with their father, but she also likes swimming.
This family of four are vegetarians and believe in healthy eating habits as well as good exercise.
Gene says he got rid of his DsTV about five years ago and believes the family spends more time together now than what they have ever done before.
“Cycling with my children is one of the things I make time for,” he says.
