Church donates to the disadvantaged

The Beauty of Christ Ministries Church in KwaThema Extension Three gave food parcels to orphans, disabled people and the elderly on last Sunday.

About 144 families in KwaThema received food parcels despite their church affiliation.

The families will not have to worry about what will be for supper for almost a week as the food parcels that they received will last for about seven days.

Bishop Sandile Nxumalo said the congregation’s dream of ensuring that there are no families that go to bed with empty stomachs has been fulfilled and he promised to do more in years to come.

He added that it is the church’s responsibility to take care of those from disadvantaged backgrounds.

He explained that the church’s donation to the disadvantaged is not to attract more people to join his church but is to spread love and share with others.

One of the beneficiaries, Lydia Ntshilibe (52) said the donation will help her family stop wondering about where the next meal will come from.

“I live with my three children and no-one is employed from my family,” said Ntshilibe.

She thanked the congregation for the food donation and wished them a long and good life.

Ward councillor Wilson Busakwe also thanked the church on behalf of all the beneficiaries.

“Our people are faced with poverty and I am happy to realise that there are churches that still care for the people in the community regardless of their church affiliation,” said Busakwe.

PR councillor Busi Khoza said she wishes that the metro grants the church a site.

“Because this is one of the churches that cares about people, it deserves a permanent site to build their church hall,” said Khoza.
