Plate winners at the opening round of the HSBS World Rugby Sevens in Dubai at the weekend, the Blitzboks now head for home soil and the second round of the series in Cape Town this weekend.
After beating Australia in the Plate final with a last gasp Francois Hougaard try, Neil Powell’s men have been drawn in Pool-B for their home leg of the series.
That sees them taking on beaten finalists England and African neighbours Kenya and Zimbabwe on day one.
Dubai winners Fiji are drawn in Pool-A with Argentina, Scotland and Russia.
It’s expected to be fun and games at a sold-out Cape Town Stadium and round one results proved that no one country can be guaranteed of a medal at next year’s Olympics in Rio.
The United States certainly proved that convincingly with victories over both New Zealand and South Africa in Dubai.
The Stars and Stripes outfit are in Pool-C with Australia, Wales and Portugal.
Meanwhile, New Zealand, the dominant force in world sevens in the 16-year history of the competition, head up Pool-D along with Samoa, France and Canada.
Cape Town Sevens draw:
Pool A: Fiji, Argentina, Scotland, Russia
Pool B: England, South Africa, Kenya, Zimbabwe
Pool C: USA, Australia, Wales, Portugal
Pool D: New Zealand, Samoa, France, Canada
