Proteas continue quest for draw to reach 94/3 at lunch

The Proteas had faced 107 overs, scoring at a run-rate of 0.87.

South Africa continued their quest to draw the fourth Test against India as the visitors reached 94/3 in their second innings at lunch on day five in Delhi on Monday.

With the Proteas resuming on 72/2 overnight, Hashim Amla and AB de Villiers (26 from 203 deliveries) again played with determination to deny the Indian spinners.

Amla did finally succumb for 25 from a mammoth 244 balls when he was bowled by Ravindra Jadeja prompting huge celebrations from the hosts as South Africa fell to 76/3.

But De Villiers was joined by Faf du Plessis who was able to carry on in the same manner as he made it to the interval on 2 from 61 balls.

The Proteas had faced 107 overs, scoring at a run-rate of 0.87.

India made 334 in their first innings, while South Africa could only manage 121 in reply. In their second stint with the bat India made 267/5 declared, setting South Africa an unlikely 481 to win. India lead the four-match series 2-0.
