Lock Lourens Erasmus gets his first start of the season after a promising debut against the Cheetahs

Lions coach Johan Ackermann waved his rotation stick in all earnest when he named his side on Thursday for their Super Rugby clash against the Jaguares at Ellis Park on Saturday.

Ackermann named six changes in all to the side who were so impressive by hammering the Blues 43-8 in driving rain last weekend to surge to the top of the overal SA Conference table.

Lock Lourens Erasmus gets his first start of the season after making his debut when he came on as a replacement in the Lions first home game of the season against the Cheetahs in the 62nd minute at Ellis Park, a game the Lions won 39-22.

He replaces the injured Andries Ferreira who withdraw due to a tight hamstring on the eve of last weekend’s game, while his replacement Ruan Ackermann who was rushed into the starting lineup, will start from the bench on Saturday.

In the frontrow Corne Fourie gets his second start ahead of Dylan Smith, while at hooker Akker van der Merwe starts ahead of Malcolm Marx, while on the side of the scrum flank Cyle Brink gets another start with Warwick Tecklenburg rested on the bench.

In the only two changes to the back division centre Howard Mnisi starts ahead of Rohan Janse van Rensburg while at scrumhalf Faf de Klerk starts this time around ahead of Ross Cronje.
