Following the Lions 41-13 loss to the Waratahs in a Super Rugby clash in Sydney on Sunday, three players have returned to South Africa.

The Lions medical staff said utility backs Lionel Mapoe and Courtnall Skosan each suffered a knee (medial collateral ligament) and hamstring injury, respectively, while forward Derick Minnie had concussion.

The trio returned on Monday morning and would undergo further scans and tests at home.

Coenie van Wyk and Alwyn Hollenbach depart for Perth on Monday evening to provide cover for the match against the Western Force on Saturday.
