Sekhukhune looking to cement top eight spot

Sekhukhune United coach Brandon Truter is expecting a difficult tie against SuperSport United when the teams meet in a DStv Premiership match at the Peter Mokaba Stadium on Saturday.

While SuperSport are on a quest to finish as runners-up on the league table and qualify for the Caf Champions League, Sekhukhune are on a mission to qualify for next season’s MTN8. 

Sekhukhune are in seventh place on the log with 37 points going into the last game of the campaign, level with sixth-placed Stellenbosch FC, Golden Arrows (eighth spot) and Swallows FC (ninth place).

“A very important game for us this weekend, very difficult game as well. It’s a team that wants to get to Champions League football, that makes it a cup final for them.

“It’s a good test for us, we also fighting for the top eight. So it will be an interesting difficult game in terms of qualities, formations, playing styles and considering the first round result,” said Truter.

Truter revealed that he doesn’t have all his players available for the game. But, he remains confident that they will be able to put up a good fight against the Pretoria outfit.

“The guys are ready, we have one or two injury concerns, that might not be ready for this weekend. But we will put up a very capable team to securing three points at home, that will be our aim this weekend,” he concluded.

Sekhukhune go into the encounter with Matsatsantsa after securing a point against Pirates having played 1-1 in their last game. Meanwhile, SuperSport beat Kaizer Chiefs 1-0 in their previous game.
