“Scoring this season seems as if it is our biggest weakness. We don’t score a lot of goals. We tend to keep the game going and prolong it. I think they are getting there and they are improving in terms of scoring,” said Madisha.
The likes of Jeremy Brockie and company may be misfiring in front of goals, but the 23-year-old says his backline does take the blame as they don’t keep cleansheets as often as they would like.
“Another thing is that I also don’t like conceding many goals. We don’t keep many cleansheets as we are required to do. That is also one thing that we need to improve as a collective,” Madisha explained.
Downs are in action on Sunday against Rwanda side Rayon Sport in the Caf Champions League group stage qualifier.
The sides played to a goalless draw in the first-leg in Kigali, and will need to win at the Lucas Moripe in order to book a spot in the group stages.
“The fact that we didn’t concede shows that there is improvement in the team, we are improving in terms of conceding. It shows us that if we get one goal, it won’t be easy for them to score because we have identified their strengths and weaknesses. So we have to work more on their weaknesses,” said Madisha.
