The Chippa United goalkeeper has been selected as the third choice.
The Chilli Boys shot stopper will be the only player from the Absa Premiership at the tournament in Russia.
It was reported that Akpeyi might lose his place in the squad when he was called up for the preliminary squad. However the Chilli Boys man survived the chop and will be in Russia.
United will pocket some money from Fifa because of Akpeyi’s participation in the World Cup.
