During his playing career Bosman was a hard-hitting right-handed batsman, who played his Franchise cricket for the then-Diamond Eagles now called the ‘VKB Knights’ and then for the Dolphins.

Bosman represented the Proteas in 14 ODI’s  and 14 T20 Internationals between 2006 and 2010. He and Graeme Smith hold the South African T20 partnership record for any wicket with their opening stand of 170 against England in 2009.

Bosman also scored the first century in South African domestic T20 cricket in the 2004-2005 season.

Bosmna was born in Kimberley and become an icon at the Yorkshire Cricket Club in Galeshewe and now brings his wealth of experience to add value to the cricket pipeline of Griqua Cricket.

Griqua President, Mr Rihan Richards commented:

“It is with great excitement that we announce the appointment of ex-Protea batsman, Loots ‘ The Hammer’ Bosman as convener of our selectors.  We know that he will add value and a new dimension to the team.  He brings a load of experience to our young set-up.

“Loots was known for his explosive batting and the entertaining cricket he played at both domestic and international level.  This is the same brand of cricket we want our team to be associated with.  The Africa Cup will provide him and the team with an ideal opportunity to impose and announce themselves on the National stage.”
