O’Brien and Roelofse defeated the Luxembourg pairing of Mike Scheidweiler and Ugo Nastasi 6-3 7-5 6-2 in the doubles rubber.

South Africa’s Davis Cup team swept aside the tourists, representing the tiny Luxembourg nation, as they romped to victory with two matches to spare in their Davis Cup tie in Centurion on Saturday.

Dean O’Brien and Ruan Roelofse defeated the Luxembourg pairing of Mike Scheidweiler and Ugo Nastasi 6-3 7-5 6-2 in the doubles rubber, handing the hosts an unassailable 3-0 lead.

Tucker Vorster and debutant Lloyd Harris, who won their opening singles contests on Friday, are scheduled to compete in the dead rubber return matches on Sunday.

The SA team, under the guidance of new captain Marcos Ondruska, will face either Lithuania or Norway in the second round of the Euro-Africa Group 2 division in July.

Luxembourg will compete in the relegation playoffs in an attempt to retain their place in Group 2.
