Andriëtte encourages people to say the words before it’s too late

It's a song that anyone who has experienced or is experiencing love will understand and we think will be stuck in many people's heads for a while...

The award-winning South African artist, Andriette, recently released her new single Ek moes dit gesê het (I had to say it).

The song is her follow-up single after the release of her song Sonder Liefde, which followed in the footsteps of numerous radio hits, including Mis jou Meer, Dink aan My, Vat my Hoër, Sewe Oseane, Napoleon, My Kind, Bittersoet van Liefde, Dinge, Druppel in die See, and many more.

Ek Moes Dit Gesê Het is an emotional ballad that makes you think of that one moment in your life where you want to say everything but just can’t. It’s a song that anyone who has experienced or is experiencing love will understand.

“I remember your breath, softly against the windows of my soul” is part of the song’s chorus, describing the deep emotions that the artist brings to the song. “I refuse that longing; memories of your heart destroy” is a very powerful line in the song that will touch many people. It describes the feeling of loss that people experience when they don’t get the chance to express their feelings.

Andriëtte entered the music market in 2007 after being named runner-up in the South African version of the music program, IDOLS. Shortly thereafter, her first album, Diamant, was released, for which she received a Vonk Award in 2008 for Best Female Contemporary Album. Six more successful albums followed, including Wat Rym met Liefde, which won a Ghoema Award in 2014 for Best Female Contemporary Album.

According to Andriëtte, she sings about things that touch her heart and considers Steve Hofmeyr, Laurika Rauch, and Michael Bublé to be her biggest role models in the music industry. She would also like to work with Elvis Blue someday. This 36-year-old Capetonian, born and raised in Brackenfell, currently resides in Durbanville with her husband and three sons. After school, she worked in the beauty industry before the music bug bit her. She is currently receiving further music education from Amanda Luyt.

Ek moes dit gesê het is a song that will touch you and inspire you not to stay silent, but to share your feelings and not wait until it’s too late.
