Phungula who has been in the gospel fraternity for 13 years said the switch up from traditional gospel was to accommodate different listeners.

He cited that while it was different from what he has done before, he wanted to bring a new element, changing how the genre has been branded for a long time.

“The single has a very authentic and unique sound, nothing like what is currently being offered in the country. The sound is a fusion of Hip-Hop, RnB and orchestra. I wanted to change how people perceive with the genre, especially to the youth, we wanted to reach them so everyone who listens can get a feel of what they love.”

He told Urban News that his versatile experience in choral music, opera and working with Hip-Hop heavily influenced the new sound.

The song was officially released at the beginning of May, which he said will be featured in his upcoming studio album, which he hopes to feature the likes of Sjava and Tshepiso Mpotle.

“My plan is to cut the industry with a new offering and sound, as our industry tends to sound the same,” he adds.

“I know it will take time for people to adapt to the sound but I’m excited at what we have put together.”
