Struggling with sensitive skin woes this winter? We’re here to help!

Winter can cause havoc on sensitive skin, leaving you feeling dry, itchy and just downright uncomfortable in your own skin.

Give your sensitive skin the TLC it needs to feel its best with these six tips:

  1. Not so steamy: Long, hot showers or baths can be so indulgent, but for your skin’s sake (and your water bill) it’s better to take short, 5 to 10-minute showers using warm instead of hot water.
  2. Gently does it: There is no need to rub yourself dry with a towel. Gently pat yourself after a shower and moisturise immediately, while your skin is still slightly damp to help lock in moisture.
  3. Look at labels: Always opt for hypo-allergenic, colourant and fragrance-free products – this applies to all products that come into contact with your skin, including laundry detergents.
  4. Know your fragrances: Look out for fragranced products that use essential oils instead of perfumes.
  5. Protect your hands: Wear rubber gloves when you are cleaning the house or washing dishes – you might feel like a 60s housewife, but your skin will thank you.
  6. Keep the cold out: Cover up on cold, windy days to protect your skin from the dryer, harsher winter air.

Not sure where to start with your sensitive skin care regime? A good moisturiser is your first step. Try: Clere Pure & Protect Aqueous Cream which is approved by the Allergy Foundation of South Africa and dermatologically approved, fragrance, colourant, and paraben free, meaning it’s gentle enough for your baby’s skin too.
