Miss Eldorado Park 2022, Caitlin Buys aims to raise awareness on mental health during her reign.

Almost a month ago, the 21-year-old was crowned Miss Eldorado Park and she explained that since her crowning the last few weeks have been the best.
She has already interacted with a large number of people and has attended many community events.
“It’s been overwhelming but also great in terms of being a part of something that actively works towards bettering our Eldorado Park. I’m excited for everything this year has in store for us,” she said.
Buys is originally from Ennerdale but has been living in Eldorado Park for the past six years.
Her biggest inspiration in life is her 8-year-old niece who she promised to be the best aunt to. Buys explained that her niece’s presence alone pushes her to succeed.
“One thing I learnt from the pageant is that we’re all a lot stronger than we think we are.
“We often doubt ourselves thinking that we can’t achieve certain goals but when we put our minds to it and have our hearts in the right place we can achieve any goal,” shared Buys.

Before Buys was crowned Miss Eldorado Park 2022, she won the title of Miss Personality 2022 as well in the pageant.
She explained that it was really unexpected and that she did not know that she impacted so many people to be worthy of the Miss Personality title.
While she has a few initiatives that she will be starting in the community, she said that she will remain faithful and still donate to a couple of safe homes in the community.
“My reign will mostly focus on mental health awareness within coloured and African households so I’m really looking forward to that and having our parents and generations before mine understand the importance of mental health.
“My awareness initiatives will be starting very soon, which we are very excited about and hoping that it will be a success,” concluded Buys.
