‘As a gamer myself, being part of a team that came up with the winning gaming solution that will make better gaming for a lot of South Africans is a reward within itself. This hackathon has become the benefactor of eSports participation in South Africa. Can’t wait to deliver the final product for my fellow gamers to enjoy,” said winning gamer Mpho Kubheka.

The event was hosted by 22 On Sloane in partnership with Telkom FutureMakers.

“It was exciting to see the immense amount of talent and creativity that the teams had. The difference with this hackathon is that in addition to harnessing that creativity, the teams were either entrepreneurs or received entrepreneurial training to help them venture into entrepreneurship. The prize money is linked to them registering businesses and pursuing their ideas further,” said Mmathebe Zvobwo, Executive for Enterprise and Supplier Development (FutureMakers) at Telkom.
