Mahindra introduces refreshed Pik Up
Celebrating the reopening of its dealerships for the first time since the national lockdown was enforced, Mahindra South Africa launched a refreshed variant of its flagship S6 single cab Pik Up model.
Celebrating the reopening of its dealerships for the first time since the national lockdown was enforced, Mahindra South Africa launched a refreshed variant of its flagship S6 single cab Pik Up model.
The S6, available with either a 4×2 or 4×4 drivetrain, now benefit from a seven-slot chromed grille and large Mahindra badge, a design feature seen on S11, S10 and Scorpio models. Flanking the updated grille are new headlamps featuring clear indicator lenses. This theme is continued on to the side indicators situated on the signature Mahindra slots on the front fenders.
Lower down on the front is a new front bumper which incorporates fog lamps and chrome detailing to match the grille. Other changes to the exterior include an electric locking fuel lid and a redesigned styling bar which provides for more rigidity and improved tie-down capabilities and comes standard with both the 4×2 and 4×4 models.
The driver further benefit from electric rearview mirror adjustment, one-touch lane change indicators and cruise control on the interior. Mahindra also fitted new seats with armrests for both occupants and height adjustment for the driver. Furthermore, instead of the key fob on previous models, the updated derivative now gets a flip key with integrated remote.
The new additions feature alongside the standard features on the S6 range which include rain-sensitive wipers, automatic self-levelling headlamps and a fuel-saving start-stop system. There is also an integrated audio system which provides for auxiliary, USB and Bluetooth connectivity. Dual front airbags, central locking, a 12V charging port, ABS brakes with emergency brake force distribution and air conditioning comes as standard on Mahindra’s S6 range.
Under the bonnet features the same 2.2-litre mHawk turbodiesel engine which with its common rail direct injection and variable turbocharging is capable of delivering 103 kW and 320 N.m of torque.
Warranty and service plan
The Mahindra Pik Up S6 model comes with a four-year/120Â 000 km mechanical warranty and roadside assistance plan and five-year/90Â 000 km service plan.
