The previous generation Porsche Cayenne GTS offered a blend of sportiness and everyday usability, it featured a 3.6-litre bi-turbo engine. Now though the GTS badge is back and Porsche says it brings with it more power. The Autodealer team has had the privilege of sampling the latest Cayenne in both standard SUV and SUV Coupe guise. While those specific models in S guise appeal to those wanting an equal blend of usability and performance, there are those who want more power and that is what the GTS variants promises.
The design has been enhanced with performance in mind. To ensure a unique and exclusive appearance, Porsche designers have added numerous black accents on the exterior. These include items such as the front air intakes, side window trims, tailpipes of the sports exhaust system and the model and Porsche logos on the rear are all in Black.
The new Cayenne GTS models are also equipped with satin-gloss Black 21-inch RS Spyder Design wheels as standard. The LED headlights with Porsche Dynamic Light System and the LED tail light bar have been dark-tinted for a more menacing appearance.
The coupe model features two centre-mounted tailpipes while the standard Cayenne GTS features two pipes at each end of the sculptured bumper. The exhaust system on the GTS, however, has been designed to produce a rich, sporty sound with a unique character to further enhance the driving experience. The standard steel-spring suspension lowers the car by 20 millimetres and includes Porsche Active Suspension Management. Customers can further individualize their car with options such as the 10 mm-lower three-chamber air suspension, rear-axle steering and the Porsche Dynamic Chassis Control (PDCC) active roll stabilisation system.
Inside the new Cayenne GTS customers will find high-quality materials in the form of Alcantara on the roof lining, seat centre panels, centre console armrests and doors, as well as dark-brushed aluminium, which reflects the cars sporty yet elegant characteristics. Exclusively reserved for the new GTS models are standard eight-way sports seats offer optimal support for dynamic cornering.
As mentioned, the new Porsche Cayenne GTS has been given a power boost in the form of a Porsche developed V8 engine that features two turbochargers and develops 338 kW and 620 N.m of torque. The power unit will propel the Cayenne GTS from 0-100km/h in 4.5 seconds with the Sport Chrono package and will continue on to a top speed of 270km/h. The eight-speed Tiptronic S transmission has been programmed to offer responsive gear changes while offering impressive efficiency in conjunction with adaptive cylinder control, direct fuel injection with central injector position and an intelligently designed thermal management system. Porsche claims a fuel consumption figure of between  11.2 – 11.4L/100 km.
The new Cayenne GTS models are available on order immediately. Information on the basic retail price, model specifications and local availability can be obtained at the nearest Porsche Centre.
