Growing demand for affordable, secure homes in Johannesburg
In Johannesburg South buyers are in search for houses with modern finishes and homes that have cottages or granny flats on the same premises.
According to Seeff’s licensees in South Cresta, Kibler Park, Glenanda, Oakdene, Meyersdal and Midvaal, buyers in Johannesburg South are in demand for property priced between R750 000 and R1.5 million.
The most sought after are two or three bedroomed houses with two bathrooms that are either full title or located in security complexes. In rental property houses priced between R6000 and R10 000 are the most sought after. Rental homes or townhouses in this bracket usually have two or three bedrooms, two bathrooms and a small garden for children or pets.
Seef licensees reported that it was clear that sales in the luxury sector where slower compared to the affordable price range, mainly due to the fact that several luxury homes are regarded as overpriced. Gary du Toit of Seeff Oakdene said business in Johannesburg South was competitive. Many foreigners are willing to pay cash for properties in this area.
