Midweek groove lights up Jozi

Big stars come out to play at the #AXEPartyOfTheYear

Jozi’s A-listers, trendsetters and fun seekers descendent at the Fox Junction for a night of music and dance on Wednesday last week. It was the #AXEPartyOfTheYear and fun was had. Presented by Axe, the do was aimed at encouraging men to find their magic and own whatever makes them unique.

Not only did the event encourage men to find their magic, it also served as a platform to showcase local talent. Internationally acclaimed Nkosinathi Maphumulo better known as DJ Black Coffee was headlining the gig.

The event forms part of his collaboration with Axe which was launched last year.

Black Coffee has since invited young local artists such as Nasty C, Bontle Modiselle and Rich Mnisi to join him in discovering and empowering young creatives.

The #AXEPartyOfTheYear signalled the end of the search and celebrated guys who have embraced who they are and become their most attractive selves.

“The magic that unfolded on stage and in the crowd at the #AXEPartyOfTheYear proved to be the height of talent and passion that we know lives inside the hearts and souls of all South Africans,” said Unilever Marketing Deodorants Director, Keegan Alicks.

“As a brand, AXE encourages everyone to own what makes them unique and find their magic, and last week AXE brought the magic of Mzansi to life with the help of our makers and you.”

It was sure a party of the year as music and dance were the order of the day thanks to tight line-up headlined by Black Coffee himself.

Apart from being MC for the night, former Dreamteam member Zulu Mkhathini delivered an electric performance with DJ Tira. Last year’s AXE DJ Search winner, Da Kruk, held it down on the onse and twos and got the crowd moving.

The highlight of the nigh for many was Distruction Boyz who filled the dancefloor and had party animals losing their morals. Nasty C also took to the stage and had the crowd going crazy with his new hits.

Guests were treated to a different side of AXE – the incomparable Bontle Modilselle brought the attraction to the party with her moves! After calling out to dancers on social media, Bontle assembled a crew of the best up-and-coming dancers to perform alongside her on stage, proving that Mzansi has got the magic.
