MUSIC: KAY-G SA shares his lyrical experiences
"I write about our lifestyle as the youth, I try to be honest with everything, I don't sugar coat things in my lyrics," Kay-G SA.
21-one-year-old Kagiso Komane from Riverlea speaks about his four-year experience in the local music industry.
Komane’s stage name is Kay-G SA and said that he does not like to box himself into a specific genre, I do songwriting, rap, and I sing, I try not to dwell on rap but I like to go into other genres.
The up and coming artist said that his influence comes from Drake and Tory Lanez and locally AKA.
“I was seventeen years old when I discovered my passion for the music industry. I started writing my songs in my room and I use to make a lot of noise, my mum always shouted at me because of the noise I made.

“At the time that was just something I liked doing, it is was not serious. When I started becoming serious I recorded my songs and I let people listen to it,” said Komane.
According to the artist he got back great feedback from those who listened to his songs. Komane explained that it was the good and bad experiences that got him to write his songs. The artist said that he tried to take the positive side out of all of his experiences.
“I write about our lifestyle as the youth, I try to be honest with everything, I don’t sugar coat things in my lyrics. Some people may like it and some wouldn’t,” he said.

The lyrics in his songs are mostly based on his previous relationships and the stuff that he learns from his friends and his surroundings. Komane writes for artists in the Soweto area and he plans on studying sound engineering.
He stated that he the industry is tough and if you as an artist is waiting on someone to hold your hand, you going to fail, you have to work hard and if you cannot take the positives out of the negative critics then the industry will spite you out.
