Flying Westbury’s flag high with Miss Eagle SA

Miss Eagle South Africa is a women empowerment contest.

Ashlynn Johaar (18) from Westbury attended Newclare Primary and went to Westbury High. Johaar plans to study accounting next year at the University of Johannesburg but is currently a brand ambassador for Miss Eagle South Africa.

Miss Eagle South Africa is a women empowerment contest that uses the ‘beauty with brains’ and purpose platform to develop and grow young women to have a positive impact in their community.

Johaar has been a contestant since March this year and said that she entered the contest because she felt that she fitted the title and that she is what they looking for.

There are different levels of the contest: you start off as a contestant, then you become a brand ambassador, semi-finalist and then the finalist. Once you reach the finals they will send an invitation for crowing at the Sandton Convention Centre on December 15.

Johaar is on the brand ambassador level at the moment. “I want to empower girls at the high schools because people always take advantage of them.

“I want to teach them how to follow their dreams. Personally, Miss Eagle allowed me to come out of my comfort zone because I was a very shy person. It has empowered me and allowed me to grow as a person,” said Johaar.

When asked what the title would mean to her she said: “To win Miss Eagle South Africa 2018 I’d be honoured and blessed beyond comprehension.

“I’d use the Miss Eagle SA title to motivate many young girls in ways that would empower them to set out goals and achieve them without hesitation. I’d create a positive impact on my community by presenting charities and participating in community projects.

“This title would also give me the opportunity to achieve a goal that I’ve set to open up an organisation for underprivileged children in our country which will help them in a way that would give them access to all educational tools to improve their knowledge and help them with career guidance. The title would also help me to go further into the industry like entering Miss World or Miss Universe.”

Johaar will be having motivational talks at her former primary and high school. Last week she did a charity drive called the “Baby Blankie Charity Drive” where she asked people to donate baby items.

She will be distributing it to the mothers at Rahima Moosa Mother and Child Hospital soon. Johaar needs your vote to get to the semi-finals.

To vote for her SMS ”Ash” to 35334. Cost R3 per Sms. Free Sms’s do not apply.
