Meet the Miss Soweto Finalists

Beautiful, sexy and confident.

There are only three weeks left until the finals for Miss Soweto 2017 and everyone is itching to see who will make it become Nthabiseng Kgasi’s successor after the top 20 finalists were announced last month.

The chosen few have come from the different areas and have acquired different accolades and still hope to achieve more if they win the title.

When asked what should the potential winner have, one of the judges Mapaseka Koetle said, “A young lady who is smart, graceful and confident in who they are and what they are about, who has a high self-esteem and takes care of herself in all aspects (mentality, physically etc.).

The lady also has to show that they care about the community that they are from, after all, the winner of the pageant will be an ambassador of Soweto.”

Will one of the finalists possess what they are looking for? Let’s meet five of the top 20 finalists.

Sihle Tshabalala

The 20-year-old Public Relations student at the University of South Africa is from Mofolo.

Tshabalala plans to one day own a company that will groom new and young talent, as well as a cosmetics line.

She plans on being a motivational speaker in the future, to empower young women.

If she wins the pageant, one of her top priorities will be to register a Non-Profit Organisation (NGO) that will focus on taking care of the less-privileged members of society.

Busisiwe Zinhle Khanye

Molapo born Khanye is studying for a Diploma in Media Practices at Boston Media House.

After graduating, she wants to pursue a career as an investigative journalist at one of South Africa’s leading broadcast corporations.
Her passion lies in youth empowerment and plans to start her own NGO.

If she wins Miss Soweto, she will use this platform to reach out to high schools and promote sex education, as well put a bursary programme in place.

Noluthando Mbatha

A 23-year old model from Diepkloof, Mbatha plans on completing a diploma in Sound Engineering in the future, as well as own a recording studio, which will be accessible to the youth in her community.

She’s passionate about music and modelling and plans to use her title to bring more awareness to local arts programmes that will empower the youth of Soweto.

Busisiwe Mmotla

A qualified teacher at a private school in Bramley, this Emdeni born 24-year-old has a passion for books and plans on starting a programme to develop literacy skills for the youth in Soweto.

One of her biggest goals is to surprise her hard-working mother with a new house.

If she wins she wants to promote for a Mr Soweto pageant, as she believes that the boy-child is always neglected when it comes to empowerment programmes.

Mmotla will also start a bursary foundation for learners in Soweto.

Nomfanelo Mabona

The Braamfischerville beauty is 21-years year and is a Social Media Community Manager and currently studying Advertising at Boston Media House.

If she wins the title, Mabona’s first initiative in her new role would be to host a Christmas Party for various children’s homes in Soweto.
