Fact: Vintage will never go out of style

The ladies plan to add vintage couture and footwear into the mix.

‘Don’t be into trends. Don’t make fashion own you, but you decide what you are’- Gianni Versace. Vintage lovers such as Wardrobe Ninjas know this quote all too well.

“The Wardrobe Ninjas are fluent in style. So when we stock clothes we lean towards style rather than designers but if we pick up a designer garment then lucky us! If we see a dress or pair of pants that makes our senses tingle we snap it up.

“Sometimes we all spot the same garment and our eyes lock and we just smile. Or one of us will make strange noises of excitement and the rest just melt.

“Stocking for us can be comical but it is because we are passionate about styling women of all ages and sizes,” said Gugulethu Blose, one of the founders and stylists of Wardrobe Ninjas.

So what is this store about? Well…Wardrobe Ninjas is an online based store- started by Gugulethu Blose, Felicia Bans and Pinky Letshabo – that gives vintage designers a platform to exhibit their work.

“Our mission is to provide lovers of vintage fashion, high quality inspired products from world-class vintage fashion brands at competitive prices. The clothes are also functional and beautiful.

“We also offer personalised style service, which includes detail style assessment and feature different dress-style personalities, ensuring that our customers are always well dressed. We offer a tailored shopping experience, including delivery of clothing,” explained Bans.

The advantage of vintage clothing, according to Blose, is that it adds an air of femininity and beauty to workplace clothing for women, which is the main reason they decided to go the vintage route in the first place.

“There is something whimsical and romantic about vintage. Workplace clothing for women can be very masculine or androgynous but vintage can add an air of femininity and beauty. Women also have a desire to be different so the flair of our once- off garments hits the right spot,” added Blose.

“We have been received quite well. We have been to a few markets and events where we have made sales. This has actually inspired us to look at our business model and we have plans to improve services and to set ourselves apart. The once-off garments are a hit and people really clamour over novelty.”
