Little Miss Klipspruit pageant a huge success

Our pageant was decent and well organized and designed to offer something for everyone.

Two years back a group of teenagers in Klipspruit, Blessed Hlatshwayo, Noluthando Mbathu, Thato Ncube, Noxolo Phethe and Nokulunga Sekaele, started an annual talent event, where they call on all different talents to go and participate.

Each year is given a different theme and a specific type of talent that participants are required to compete in. Last year it was dance and after watching all the beauty pageants, ending with the Miss World, this year they had a beauty pageant for the young ones.

The pageant was held in Klipspruit on Saturday, October 7. Regardless of the bad weather, the event was a success.
According to Hlatshwayo, it started off like they are just kids playing, but surprisingly, their vision soon became a reality with the establishment of a talent show.

“Our pageant was decent and well organized and designed to offer something for everyone. It holds to the highest standards of integrity and conducts its pageants in a fair and unbiased manner,” said Mcube.

The crew receives a lot of support from their community. Andile Hlatshwayo, one of the founder’s father is the man who has been behind the planning of these events and has been supportive throughout.

Nomathemba Hlatshwayo was also mentioned as one resident who has been with them from the beginning. “Amongst the residents near us, we have made reasonable efforts to secure a culturally and professionally diverse panel of judges to have a fair and professional pageant,” said Mbathu.

Sekaele explained that the purpose of their annual talent show is to help kids build confidence, help them establish their dreams in the entertainment industry, as well keeping them away from streets.

“Working with is a challenge because not every one of them is going to win and some cry after losing but the most important thing to note is that your competition journey is a process, not an endpoint,” concluded Phethe.
