African Youth Choir (AYC) in Concert

The aim was to get exposure from the people of Diepkloof to know that there's a choral and classical existing here.

The African Youth Choir (AYC) was founded by Siyabulela Kahla and Nkosana Don Baloyi. It was an idea by the School choir learners from Fidelitas Comprehensive School.

The first day of rehearsal was on May 23, 2016. The conductor was Nkosana Don Baloyi but due to unforeseen circumstances, he moved to another choir that’s when Bulelani Khala took the baton.

“On July 31, 2017, we were invited to perform at a rival Methodist youth guild in Dobsonville.

“We went there all by ourselves then we met this awesome lady Simphiwe Dlamini doing and was eager to know more about us.

“She visited our rehearsal venue and offered to mentor us, said Khala”
The journey has been tough indeed last year we had no choir uniforms, but we meet a God sent woman called Selina Tladi who brought black skirts for girls

This was our second concert we hosted and we have been planning it for months and we even had #fillupekhayacentre.
The choir is opened to anyone who wants to join AYC.

Simphiwe Dlamini has done a lot with helping the choristers beyond.
“Since Simphiwe Dlamini has been present there are much progress and growth.

“The aim was to get exposure from the people of Diepkloof to know that there’s a choral and classical existing here.

“The choir suffered from a break up when the former chairperson left and started his own,” said Khala.

The second concert was giving an assurance to their fans that they still exist and they were launching their new uniforms and celebrating one year in existence.

The concert was beyond lit performances from other groups were invited.
