Fashion Show: Entrepreneurs and local designers promote their work at Maponya Mall
Local designers and entrepreneurs take their crafts to the next level.
Maponya Mall showcased another fashion show on July 1 to the 2nd to promote local designers and entrepreneurs.
The show featured different pop-up stores promoting their brands to shoppers.
The Meadowlands Urban News reporter was there to cover the show and talked to some of the designers about their brands.
Lerato Ramashala spoke on behalf of SAC makeup explained that their product started in Malawi and they decided to venture into South Africa.
According to Ramashala, their products are skin-friendly and caters mostly to African skin types but their eye shadows and lipstick are versatile.
“People tend to buy the brand instead of looking at the quality of the makeup. The most important thing is the quality, not the brand,” she said.
Dainty Frocks, another brand which started six years ago, showcased their clothing designs.
“We use a lot of African print and modernise it. We have two stores, one in Melville and another one in Durban,” said Leonora Vundla.
The owner of Dainty Frocks is Nqobile Tshabalala.
Hair care products and accessories were also showcased at the event. Earthy Hair Care caters for natural hair and also spoke about their hair care range.
Lesego Moalusi said that Earthy hair care started two years ago with the aim of providing hair products for natural hair that are chemical free.
Earthy hair care markets their product trough ‘earthypreneurs’ which are people who move around the country and promote the product.
The care range consists of moisturisers, healthy hair oil, butter, shampoo and conditioner.
Other brands which were at the pop-up fashion show include; Fabrosanz, Stylecollusion, My African Buy, Kelebeads and Plusfab.
